DJ Nu-Mark is often overshadowed by his Jurassic 5 counterpart Cut Chemist, but I’ve always thought dude was super underrated and have always been interested in hearing and seeing what he’s been up to. The above video shows just how seriously he takes his music, utilizing the relatively untapped world of children’s toys to help create his soundscapes. Really cool video that’s sure to spawn a herd of copycats.
Fashion/Tecnology: New Japanese Fashion: LED Lights for Your Teeth
The new fashion accessories were originally created as an experiment by two Japanese designers and are now being used in a commercial advertising a winter sale at a Japanese clothing store, Laforet Harajuku. They are quickly becoming a sought after accessory.
Realistic robot with the most human of facial expressions, as you can see in the video above; the Guinness Book of World Records marks it as the “first true android.” Has robotics finally crossed the Uncanny Valley? Or is this even creepier than robots that we know for sure to be robots?
Art/Advertising:Bringing veils to the faces of Paris
Babelgum Metropolis exclusively presents Princess Hijab, a documentary following the artist bringing veils to the faces of Paris.
As the French Senate approve a ban on burqas, we profile the anonymous Parisian graffiti artist whose work ‘hijabizing’ adverts raises the question of why hiding a face behind a veil is considered to be more of a repressive act than hiding one behind airbrushing and media gloss.
Apparently this is the earliest known footage of Arcade Fire as we know them today - good stuff.
I shot this video of my buddy Richard’s band at the Rivoli in Toronto when their self titled EP had just come out. The songs are Wake Up, No Cars Go and Old Flame.
Code-Time is a ten minute digital video made up of 3000 QR codes. Running at five frames a second, each barcode is an encoded frame from the introductory sequence to 2001 A Space Odyssey. This shorter edited version of the start of Kubrick’s film focusses upon how humans are introduced to the concept of technology through an extraterrestrial artefact. To ‘watch’ this version of the movie the audience require mobile phones that are connected to the Internet to interpret each new frame of the sequence. Using a QR reader, each barcode can be decoded and allows the owner to see one frame of the movie at a time. http://www.talesofthings.com

How awesome is this! New iPhone game lets you role-play your way through your to-do list. Makes me want to dust off my 20 sided dice and do my laundry.
To-do lists. We all have them, but that doesn’t mean we have to like them. Getting through a pile of boring chores isn’t all that fun, but an upcoming iPhone app is looking to change that. Dubbed EpicWin, the app aims to merge your to-do list with an RPG, letting you gain experience points and find rare loot as you do the laundry and catch up on e-mail.
Technology: MIT Media Lab unveils ‘Surround Vision’
Surround Vision is intended to work with standard, Internet-connected handheld devices. If a viewer wanted to see what was happening off the left edge of the television screen, she could simply point her cell phone in that direction, and an image would pop up on its screen. The technology could also allow a guest at a Super Bowl party, for instance, to consult several different camera angles on a particular play, without affecting what the other guests see on the TV screen.
